If you have been following our projects for a while you already know that Vorshlag is a suspension design shop, and we strive to make cars handle better. Naturally several of our employees own, prepare and race Miatas, which have a factory suspension design that is superb to many other sports coupes and roadsters out there. You would also know from our previous projects that we love real, usable, reliable horsepower. We have been replacing BMW motors with GM aluminum LSx V8 engines for over a decade, because “LS1 engines fix everything”.

Can you guess where this is going? Making our own LS1 Miata is kind of a no-brainer! Sure, there are some other kits out there but we want to put our own twist on this potent combination, so we found a willing candidate and are developing our first “Alpha” Ls1 Miata using a 1999 “NB” chassis. Well we got our hands on a 2013 Subaru BRZ, and since this blue bomber is owned by Vorshlag employee Matt, its here at our shop every day. We have driven it, weighed it, taken it apart, studied the inner workings and guts of the suspension, added 9″ wide wheels and fat Michelin Pilot Super Sports, and have plans for more. New suspension bits, added horsepower, and other improvements are going to be in this BRZ project build-up.

This car is already awesome but we’re going to try to pack in even more. Sound good? Then click here to read the first installment of our BRZ Build thread. This forum post shows the last of the Vorshlag preparation work done to the Brianne Corn Racing 2005 STi. We got it finished and looking good in plenty of time to meet the deadline.

In that thread update we’ve included some pictures from the first day of testing on Pikes Peak, earlier today. Race day is Sunday – stay tuned here and the Vorshlag Facebook page for more info! Vorshlag is closed Friday August 10th, since our entire crew will be at Pikes Peak. Read more here.

Our small part of the three week thrash undertaken by the Vorshlag crew, and our friends and co-sponsors at Pirtek Plano South and AST-USA, working on the Brianne Corn Racing 2005 Subaru STi is wrapping up. Lots of race preparation has been accomplished within our walls, with plenty of other sponsor help and work done to the car elsewhere. We have one last day of work here at Vorshlag before they load the car into the Vorshlag race trailer and tow to Colorado Springs to take on the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb August 12th. The GRM $2011 Challenge winner, and our 3 year labor of love E30 V8, is going to a new home. After 6000 views, 100 watchers, and lots of bids, the the eBay auction concluded with a new owner for this car. We’ve made good progress on the Brianne Corn Racing hill climb Subaru STi in the past week. Check the build thread (click here) for more updates.

As you can see in the picture above, the front flares are complete (and body worked) and the rear widebody work is progressing nicely. There is also a lot of Lots of new plumbing, AST & Vorshlag suspension bits, and more. Not much time left – push push push!
