So we have been quietly working on our BMW E46 LS1 V8 swap prototype car and have some news to report, which you can read here.

Post PPIHC Race Report for Brianne Corn Subaru

Here is our last post on the Brianne Corn Racing Subaru for a while.

This update (click here to read) covers the race itself from my perspective, including Friday practice, the FanFest car show and race day on Sunday. Brianne had to deal with rain and hail on her blast up the mountain and it was a pretty hairy experience (all shown on video). Enjoy!

Free SCCA Solo Nationals Class Winner Jackets

We at Solo Performance Specialties and Vorshlag Motorsports wanted to recognize the class winners at the 2012 SCCA Solo Nationals that did not receive the coveted Nationals Jacket for a class Championship. This includes some new and extremely popular Supplemental classes like the Road Tire category and a few traditionally recognized classes that did not meet the new 3 entrant minimum, which included some Ladies classes. Winners in these classes will soon be contacted by us for sizing on a special run of 2012 “National Class Winner” jackets. These will be free of charge, just like the recognized Nationals Champions, but paid for by SPS and Vorshlag. The winners in these classes are all champions in our eyes.

Vorshlag Mustang at 2012 Solo Nationals

If you want to see our extremely detailed write-up of our experiences at the 2012 SCCA Solo Nationals just click here. Amy and Terry did pretty well in their classes, with Amy winning ESP-L and Terry getting 4th out of 33 in ESP, both driving the Vorshlag prepared 2011 Mustang GT.

The new Whiteline Watts link, rear upper control arm kit, and swaybars made a huge difference in the car’s handling and we cannot wait to get the production parts in to sell. We learned a lot about the class and will be back in ESP next year with a much more serious effort. Pictures, videos, and more here.

AST and Moton Inventory Blowout

We’ve got several AST coilover shock kits on the shelf here at Vorshlag that are priced right and can ship today. Some of these are the “last set in the nation” and some sets are discounted because they are on clearance, so if you have a car on the list at the forum post linked here then take a look. Mostly 4100 single adjustables with some 4200 doubles as well.

There are some great deals on some Moton Motorsport shocks as well. Take a look.

Vorshlag Miata LS1 Alpha Project

If you have been following our projects for a while you already know that Vorshlag is a suspension design shop, and we strive to make cars handle better. Naturally several of our employees own, prepare and race Miatas, which have a factory suspension design that is superb to many other sports coupes and roadsters out there. You would also know from our previous projects that we love real, usable, reliable horsepower. We have been replacing BMW motors with GM aluminum LSx V8 engines for over a decade, because “LS1 engines fix everything”.

Can you guess where this is going? Making our own LS1 Miata is kind of a no-brainer! Sure, there are some other kits out there but we want to put our own twist on this potent combination, so we found a willing candidate and are developing our first “Alpha” Ls1 Miata using a 1999 “NB” chassis. Follow along in this thread and watch as this swap stars from the very beginning. You can also find this swap forum thread build-up on Corner-Carvers, SCCAForums, DFWMiata, and RoadRaceAutoX.

Vorshlag BRZ Build Thread

Well we got our hands on a 2013 Subaru BRZ, and since this blue bomber is owned by Vorshlag employee Matt, its here at our shop every day. We have driven it, weighed it, taken it apart, studied the inner workings and guts of the suspension, added 9″ wide wheels and fat Michelin Pilot Super Sports, and have plans for more. New suspension bits, added horsepower, and other improvements are going to be in this BRZ project build-up.

BRZ with 17x9

This car is already awesome but we’re going to try to pack in even more. Sound good? Then click here to read the first installment of our BRZ Build thread. So far we have it cross posted to corner-carvers, sccaforums, roadraceautox, NASIOC’s BRZ subform, DFWMiata, and Vorshlag’s forum. That pretty much covers a big corner of the BRZ public on the interwebs. Thanks!

Achilles Motorsport E36 at 25 Hours of Thunderhill

A little behind the scenes insight from the Achilles Motorsport BMW E36 entry that raced at the 2011 running of the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. This team has been using Vorshlag camber plates for the past 3 years without issue. This year they stepped up the grip level on Apex 18×10″ wheels and 275mm Hoosier R6 tires and ran into some trouble with wheel hub failures. 25 hours makes for one long, tough race!

Read more here at the Bimmer magazine blog entry. Good luck in 2012, guys!
