Let’s Go Endurance Racing – Update 4!

A long overdue update on the Pontini Racing team’s 2014 Subaru BRZ endurance car is finally published on our forum in a new 4 part update. This covers the build steps, races, test days, series rules, and design theory behind this team’s 86 entry from September 2025 through April of 2025.

In the forum update we cover every step of this build, share part numbers and pictures, and even costs in some cases. This team has a budget – just like everyone – and they are trying to maximize the car’s performance and reliability with carefully chosen upgrades that fit within their series’ class rules and are the most cost effective.

Follow along in part 4 of this series with the car’s first competition endurance event, which showed great promise initially followed by a plastic cooling system fitting break that cost the team an engine at the car’s maiden event. That led to a major push to remove all plastics from the cooling system and a massive cooling reliability upgrade. That was followed by a rule change that really took this car out of contention for that series before it was even maximized to the current ruleset, which was frustrating.

In the rest of the update the team hunkered down, rebuilt the drivetrain, made many upgrades and went racing with a different series in 2025 – and managed two 2nd place finishes. That made the struggles of the first race a bit easier to live with. You can check out the 4-part update here, which has hundreds of pictures and videos you can see larger versions of with a single click.
