We finally took the plunge and became a dealer for COBRA racing seats. You can read more about this at this press release post.
Vorshlag stocks many of the COBRA seat models and we can provide custom mounting solutions as well. This buy-in gave us the ability to also buy Sparco, OMP and Momo seats and racing products. Look for more to be added to our new Racing Seats section of our website soon.
We haven’t had a post in the 2013 Subaru BRZ thread in 8 months, but we’ve made up for it with some significant suspension developments. The latest project build thread update is fairly large.
The biggest upgrade done to this Vorshlag built BRZ yet was the addition of custom built MCS TT1 coilovers. These were spec’d by Vorshlag and result in a 2″ lower ride height, triple the OEM spring rate, yet still have ample suspension travel and great ride quality.
We had more updates than we could fit in even a 2-part update, so we will have another reply in the coming week(s). In the next update we talk about the addition of Enkei 17×9 RPF-1 wheels, 255mm BFG Rivals, an autocross event we entered (and won 2 classes) with this car, Whiteline swaybar installs, MCS RR2 double adjustable shocks going on another BRZ this week at Vorshlag, and more.
We have another update in our S197 Mustang Project Build Thread, and today it is a big 3-parter. In this update we go into the various SCCA autocross classes that the S197 Mustang fits into with our opinions of how these cars fare in each. We explore the new re-classing of the Mustang V8s into STU class within the Street Touring category and give first hand impressions of a test running a 2012 GT in STU recently at a Texas Region SCCA event. Lots of in-car video and pictures are inside, of course.
This class looks like a better fit for these cars than STX, simply from the extra 20mm of tire allowed. It still needs some help if it ever has a chance against the normal STU cars, or the proposed addition of C5 Corvettes to this class (facepalm). Read the thread update to learn more, starting here.
In the update we also cover some of the extensive fabrication work underway at Vorshlag this week on our 2011 Mustang GT. This is the car we are campaigning in NASA TT3 class this year, so far with very good results. To hopefully keep up with the top TT3 drivers at the NASA Nationals next month we have embarked on a major front aero upgrade, which is shown extensively in the update.
Lastly we talk about some new shocks we have built for the Subaru BRZ and NB Miata above, as well as our 2013 Mustang GT – which is still for sale. Gotta move this car to help fund more development work, so please spread the word. Thanks!
Several new Project Build Thread forum updates were added to a couple of Vorshlag builds today. First, we had two posts in our S197 build thread showing development work and track testing done with our 2013 GT, which is now for sale. The two latest posts for the S197 projects start here.

In our latest S197 Mustang Project Build thread updates (starting here) we show our never ending quest to add more grip, more brakes, and more speed on track with our TT3 classed 2011 Mustang GT. In this post we detail the upgrade to 12″ wide wheels up front, measuring/testing/cutting the fenders to clear the now wider track width, then show the 13.8″ rear disc brake upgrade. These 2″ larger rear disc brakes now more evenly match the 14″ front Brembo brakes this car came with and should lead to lower brake temps, longer service intervals, and hopefully more stopping power.
After learning what it took (and what it didn’t) to do this 13.8″ diameter rear brake install Vorshlag saw a potential for a “Mustang rear brake upgrade” offering. Now we have a customizable kit (located here) that goes along with the other, highly customizable Brembo 4-piston 14″ front brake upgrade kit for 2005-2014 Mustangs that came with the smaller brakes (12″ or 13.2″ twin piston), located here. We have also begun to stock and sell replacement brake rotors, Carbotech brake pads, Vorshlag brake lines, and our brake cooling kits are coming soon for several models. Vorshlag designs and builds a line of modular, bolt-thru, competition style motor and transmission mounts for various BMW chassis with BMW motors, which we introduced back in 2006. These are meant to replace the soft rubber and/or hydraulic filled “luxury” driveline mounts that the factory uses in these sports/luxury cars. We designed these to be compliant with various SCCA class rules that stipulated a “maximum metal content”, but the rules changed in 2013 so we change our design to reflect the rles update.
More metal was added to the CNC machined aluminum base, which better supports the bushing insert (polyurethane or Nylon) on the E36/46/92 M3 version. You can see the added metal int he ghosted picture of the assembly, above. The assembled polyurethane E36/46/92 mount is shown below.

The folks at Vorshlag are always looking for new events to enter with our “project cars”. On the May 18-19th weekend we did a double header with a car show on Saturday and an SCCA autocross on Sunday. We ran in a new class for the autox, which looked impossible to compete it, and just squeaked out a win with our “jack of all trades” 2011 Mustang GT (which is primarily built around the NASA TT3 ruleset). The car show produced another win and a trophy for the same car. Who knew?
The autocross was a good test for a lot of new parts, with this being the first change we had to carve cones on the Torsen T-2R and Whiteline LCAs and relocation brackets. Good fun, and good test data. Our Mustang Project Build Thread has a write-up of these two events, a brief introduction of a new shock brand we are stocking/selling, and some pictures of various other new S197 products we are developing.
