More E36 LS1 Development

After months of development on some optional items we’ve progressed further with the build on one of our BMW E36 / LS1 chassis test mules. The ABS relocation kit replacement brake hard lines are finally done and ready for production. The power steering hose kit is also underway and going onto the test mule this week. The E36 we are using for development of these add-ons also got an engine bay repaint, so now it will look good with the hood up or down.

Vorshlag built E30 Strut Housings

New Product Announcement!

Vorshlag has built a batch of shortened, modified, and powder coated strut housings made to fit the BMW E30 4-lug chassis. These allow for the AST 4100 / 4150 strut inserts and coilover conversion parts to drop right in. Combined these make for a pain free coilover conversion to your E30 chassis BMW. No more cutting, hacking, and welding on your stock housings – let the fabrication pros at Vorshlag handle that for you.

The final product is a thing of beauty – these pictures don’t do them justice. The glossy black powder coating looks and protects so much better than the stock painted finish, and the slimmer top design (OEM perch is removed and smoothed) allows for more inboard camber travel. These shortened strut housings and AST coilover kits are in stock at Vorshlag and ready to ship.

Subaru GR Camber Plates for OEM Spring

All 2008+ Subaru Impreza owners that want more negative camber but need to keep the OEM spring and strut now have a better camber plate solution – Vorshlag’s Subaru GR Camber Plates with the custom OEM Spring Perch is now available!

We installed the first set here at Vorshlag, and performed detailed ride height and camber measurement before and after. The test car started with a maximum of -1.7° camber (using the stock eccentric at the strut mount) but ended up at a setting of -2.5° camber with our plates, with more negative camber travel available. There was also no change in ride height, which is what we were shooting for. Our 2011 STI tester did a track event right after the camber plate install and immediately noticed improved front grip and radically lowered front tire wear – and his lap times were quicker than ever before. You can see more about this new camber plate application here.

Vorshlag EVO X Camber Plates

After being out of stock for a few months, during a slight re-design, the Vorshlag camber-caster plates for the EVO X are back in stock! The revised design has the same high positive caster potential that racers asked for, but the main plate is now red anodized aluminum instead of steel, for a lighter assembly and more attractive look. The EVO X camber plates can work with 2.25″, 60mm or 2.5″ ID springs for your coilover front suspension to give you ample negative camber travel as well as more positive caster adjustment (with 3 distinct caster settings). 2011 Mustang Track Tested with 430 whp

We took our 2011 Mustang GT to Eagles Canyon Raceway on Dec 10th and two drivers made laps in the car all day. It was a total blast to drive on track (2:03 laps in its full street set-up) with the added grip of the 275mm Bridgestone RE-11s on the new D-Force 18×10″ wheels at all four corners, plus the new power of the ARH long tube headers and the Vorshlag-built, custom, dual 3″ stainless exhaust. We also took the Mustang to our local tuner and it made 430 whp on their chassis dyno – no wonder its so much more fun on track! The last time we tracked this car is was making only 378 whp. Read more in the forum build thread.

We were also pleasantly surprised at the ample grip we had at this bumpy track, with the new AST 4150-style “DDP pistons” and custom valved shocks installed. These updated AST shocks are being built in Holland right now and Vorshlag has a lot of them on order (early 2012 delivery). At day’s end we turned the AST shocks back to full soft and drove home with impeccable ride quality. This shock provides “Jekyll and Hyde” type valving at the turn of a knob – with ultra-agressive and extremely digressive rebound valving when turned up, and soft cushy ride when turned to full soft. The best of both worlds. Look for more details about the upcoming AST 4150/4250 shocks in a press release from Vorshlag, later today.
