Costas wins at TWS on ASTs!

“First time Whelen USTTC competitor Paul Costas stole the show on Saturday, setting a blisteringly quick lap of 1:49.590 in the day’s first session to take the win in his tube-framed Camaro.” (from the USTTC press release) Paul only took two timed laps, and those in traffic, but still managed to win the Unlimited Time Trial class in his AST 5200 equipped GT-1 Camaro. A short “spoiler-cam” video showing his 2 laps is below – turn up the volume!

NARRA is a new group that has a cross-country racing series which includes Wheel to Wheel racing, Time Trial and HPDE sessions, with a heavy emphasis on Vipers. Its even a Pro based series with a Versus TV contract – but with entry fees very much in-line with other club racing/TT/HPDE groups. He said the organizers were great to work with and helped him tech and properly class his car. Look for events near you on the NARRA website at narraonline.com.

As many of you who follow our forum build threads know, Costas is a long-time Vorshlag Tester, our “media consultant”, co-drives our STX 2011 Mustang, and is Vorshlag’s past and future GRM $2011 Challenge autocross driver. He runs his home built GT-1 Camaro at lots of track events, where it does unusually well for the modest budget he has in the car. You can read Costas’ racing blog here.

Vorshlag Moving! Closed Sept 1-5

Vorshlag is closed September 1st-5th while we move into our new, much larger facility. This date range also covers the Labor Day holiday, Sept. 5th. New orders will not ship during that period and phone + email support will be minimal. Construction is wrapping up at the new space, which is located across the parking lot from AST/Moton, in Plano, TX. We should be back up and running, moved in and shipping orders again on Sept 6th. Our new phone number is 972-422-7170. We will announce the date for the grand opening party soon – it will be sometime in late September. Thanks!

VoMo Decals for Nationals!

Are you a Vorshlag VTPP tester, or just want to show some Vorshlag love? Do you want some 24″ Vorshlag decals for use at the SCCA or NASA National Championships? Drop us an e-mail at sales@vorshlag.com and we will mail you a pair in either black or white, for free! We won’t be at either Nationals this year, due to construction at our new shop that is going to last through August. If you want another color and have your own decal supplier, we can send you the EPS cut file instead. We can even make different, sizes if you must have one bigger or smaller, but the 24″ fits well in a lot of places. Thanks!

Brianne Corn wins at Pikes Peak

Brianne Corn took her 2005 Subaru STi to a Time Attack 4WD class win at Pike’s Peak last weekend. Brianne’s Subaru already has several Vorshlag parts and is getting more Vorshlag suspension bits soon. You can read more about her historic win here. Congrats!

Candian customers pick UPS

For all of our Vorshlag customers in the Great White North: as you know, Candian Post is still on strike. That means our normally lower cost International USPS shipping option is not the best one to pick for Canadian deliveries until they are back at work – as the Canadian Post takes the package at the border from the US Postal Service. Pick UPS and its a worry free delivery. Cheers!

Vorshlag Mustang wins STX at SCCA SW Div #2

Well we finally won STX class at a Divisional autocross; even if the event was a bit under-attended, we’ll take it. :] The car is working better, and we’re still finding more things to tweak and improve. You can read the event write-up here.

STX Mustang makes 392 whp?!

We had a local tuner shop re-tune and dyno test our 2011 Mustang, which is being prepped to SCCA’s STX class. This car made 367 whp bone stock with 500 imles on the clock but now makes 392 whp with a cold air and a tune. Exhaust is still 100% bone stock, as is everything else. They tweaked the throttle mapping also, so hopefully we can use that power on corner exit without it being an on-off throttle switch. Two autocrosses this weekend, including the National Street Tire Challenge, where we can test the new programming as well as an unusual, new wheel and tire combo. You can read the entire forum update here.

More learned in the 5.0 Mustang

Another weekend of racing, this time at a 2 day SCCA Divisional autocross event, has taught us a lot about the latest set-up changes to the 2011 Mustang GT we are campaigning in STX class. We’re using this chassis to develop new suspension parts with. We tried out the 265/35/18 Hankook RS3 for the first time, but the new throttle map programming was a FAIL, and I was sideways for most of the weekend. The new “trick” we learned at the last Test-n-tune of up-shifting to a higher gear to avoid wheelspin once again worked, and is our “crutch” until we can get the throttle mapping corrected. You can read more here, and you can also get to the 550+ pictures and 8 in-car videos from this event.

AST Suspension purchases Moton

Big news! Moton is now owned by AST, but is going to retain its own catalog of shocks. How does this affect Vorshlag? We have been supplying camber plates to Moton customers for years, know the product line well, and we will become a Moton dealer – with their shock products on our website soon. The Moton USA headquarters is also moving 5 miles down the road from us. Read more here.

Mustang Poly Bushings + Auto-x

We recently installed Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings on the Mustang’s front LCA, which we now stock and sell for the S197 Mustang chassis, among others. Then autocrossed the car one more time, fighting through a tight course with the Toyo R1R tires in cooler temperatures. We’ve got a write-up on the installation of the bushings as well as the event, plus pictures of new wheels and a rear wing that are coming next. Read more in the latest thread update here.
