2013 Subaru BRZ Production Car Preview

Some of you out there know about the upcoming “FT86″ chassis – a joint venture platform being developed between Subaru and Toyota. The numbers sound great: 2600-2800 pounds, RWD, 2.0L direct injected flat 4, 200 hp, low CG height, Miata-like size. We here at Vorshlag got to crawl all over and measure a production 2013 Subaru BRZ Limited today, and have shared 45 pictures and much of the data we mined in this forum post. This could be a hot competitor to the Mazda MX5, but with 200 hp and true coupe format, it could be faster and better suited for track use.

Really excited to see the guys from Vorshlag posting this! I’ve had your camber plates on my e36 m3 and follow you all on Bimmerforums quite a bit, good to see you developing for an exciting new platform. If I can fit (6’7 tall – so I was really excited to read about you at 6’3 fitting with a helmet) I’m going to pick up a BRZ or FR-S in the next few months. I may have to give you a call about lowering the seat brackets so I can fit with a helmet! Enough rambling, really looking forward to your development of this chassis and can’t wait to see the next update.

Nice, very interesting… Would you guys be kind enough to share the wheel/suspension clearance specs? As in “up to what width/offset” could fit in there?! Thanks!

  4. This post is very informative and useful.. Thanks for sharing knowledge..
