Here's what they did. You run qualifying runs on both sides, two or three runs I guess each. Then you go straight to the Challenge. You run whoever with indexed Christmas tree starts and double elimination until someone wins. Payout was $100 or so. But if you think about it. What if you did a series every year of four events, $200 entry fee (total). 30 cars (again keep it small), 1st, 2nd, and 3rd payouts are $750, $500, $250. Or something like that. Cool part is, it doesn't matter how you class your car or whether you bring race tires since everything is indexed based on YOUR qualifying runs. Of course, you'd have to have a breakout or something to keep people from sandbagging.

          Any thoughts?

I think Mark Madarash has his own set of timers.

                Re: Renting Mineral Wells

OH TAY. Talked to the MW dude. We need to pick a date and I'll contact the guy. I was thinking the end of January? This winter is supposed to be pretty mild. December perhaps, but that's kind of dodgy with weather and the holidays. November? I think there are several events people wanted to go to and my car may or may not be under the knife. What does everyone think? And who wants in? I figure $15 a piece. I'll bring scales and provide lunch? Here's my guess:

                -Paul
                -Fair(s)

                -Jeff Hanchey
                -Cody
                -Dearemy
                -Out of towners?
-Local guys that never show up?

I'm in and I think late Jan is a great idea. Gives you time to work on the car and nobody will have an excuse to not show.

OK. Oops, $15, wouldn't cover 20 people and lunch. We'll figure out a price when we know the number of people.

                          Re: Renting Mineral Wells

I think I would be in of it was on a saturday. I work on sundays. I would like to at least get one track day in the C5 before I sell it. I just couldn't live with myself knowing I owned a Corvette and never raced it.

                            Ya, late January sounds good.

Talk to Madarash about coming out too. Free is he brings his timers. =)
