Re: EVO: IX vs MR vs RS?

FYI. Edmunds DOES say the '05 RS is 3175 making it a full 99 pounds lighter than a '06 GSR. OK, now THAT makes the '05 closeout interesting...

    2005 Rebate:

$1500 Cash to Customer start: 11/01/2005 end: 11/30/2005 Get Dealer Pricing
Restrictions $1500 Customer cash cannot be combined with special APR programs.
Comments Incentives may vary; see your local dealer for details.

    Invoice on a '05 RS is $27k minus $1500 = $25.5k. Very interesting....

What does the closeout price make the final price?

Lewisville Mitsu dealer won't just say "we'll take XXX over invoice", but they did mention that "2005 models have rebates" and to "make an offer" below MSRP.

I'd bet you could get the '05's for $500 over invoice, or maybe less for the "less appointed" RS. Rebate amount is $500 for the 2005 EVO, according to this site. EDIT: Edmunds says $1500 rebate.

        Invoice on a 2005 EVO RS = $27,424.41
Invoice on a 2006 EVO RS = $28,035.83 (but too new to be deeply discounted, if at all)

That's $611 less invoice alone. Wow. more than I thought. Best case, you could get that '05 RS for $26K + tax (with $1500 rebate and $0 over invoice price).

I never said it was a huge improvement, just said it was better. I added the STi info as well. The EVO has a much better second gear than the STi. I also think the EVO redline can be raised past 7500 (Jeremy can confirm) where the STi is maxed at that. These numbers are based on our 245 time size too (25.7")

Everyone. My stock rev limit was 7600 and it's actually set to 8000 now.

My stock STi rev limit is 7000 but my STU map is set to 7500.

                    From da Vish

"We tested a totally stock EVO 9 last week. You know its cool when a totally stock 286bhp rated EVO makes 15-20 more wheel horsepower than 300bhp rated STIs.."

According to Vishy they get around 205 whp for an earlier GSR, 215 whp for a '05 and 238 whp for the '06.

'06 is the way to go I'd say based on that?

I had lunch with Mark Berry today. We talked quite a bit about EVO's. One thing that came up was the clutch situation. Apparently the stock clutch is weak and with the tune he is currently running (STU legal) he can't slip the clutch anymore. If he slips the clutch, once the boost hits the clutch just smokes. Ask Jeremy about this.

Guess that depends on the dyno, mine was supposed to be 255(ish)whp on a Mustang. My base pull with stock ECU and downpipe was 276whp.

In Solo2, when are you slipping the clutch?

I read the clutch overheats easily which would go along with what you're saying about slipping then boost causing it to slip.

                            Vishnu?

I'll shoot any of you that buy his parts. There are plenty of people that know 4G63s. He the only one that anyone hears about because of his magazine contacts. Complete waste of time unless you like making sub par power for more money.
