Hanchey and I ran the DE on Sunday at ECR with "an" EVO X MR and our E30 318is. I ran the E30 power wagon and Hanchey ran that EVO, but with a new-and-improved fan+ducting solution for the transmission cooler (check out the SST cooling fan mod). The EVO ran without a hitch this time and the E30 did as well, each for three 20 minute sessions. Lots of fun, great weather, good 1 hour Enduro race to watch as well.
L: EVO and E30 getting ready. R: VM Tester Doug W's E36 M3
I'll ask Hanchey to elaborate on the DL1 data analysis from both cars, but the info he told me was: the E30 had 1.22/1.30 g lateral and .9 g under braking. This was on the little 205mm Bridgestone RE01Rs Amy ran on the car at the Solo Nat'ls. The E30 was a relative grip buggy and many turns that I took last week in the Alpha car on even V710 Kumhos could be taken flat out in the E30 (which has 1/3rd the horsepower but almost the same weight).
L: Rally Racer/VM Tester Nick "giving a point by". R: More on track antics
Lap times from DL1 logging were:
E30, 2:15 best, several 2:16s
EVO, 2:11 best
In-car videos from the E30 (made a new camera mount for it Saturday) coming next.
