You guys can keyboard talk all you want about it not being a 'real competition' but you weren't there. The timing worked great and there were a LOT of rivalries (Kent vs Chad, me vs J, random old guy vs other random old guy') and the serious guys were checking times every run. They were plenty accurate. Sure, they could have pushed a lot harder and given more runs (6 or 7 maybe), but for this organizing group it was more laid back and the atmosphere was let the hard core folks (I raise my hand) run hard core and let the other guys just relive the glory of WOT for a while (which is all they wanted to do). It worked.

C'mon guys, you weren't there. Stop bashing.

As for the 42nd, count me in. I'd wager you need to contact TWS pretty much TOMORROW to get a spring 2010 date locked in because from what I understand 09 is mostly full and a few 10 dates are already set. I'd love to see a more 'racing' oriented weekend (they did have a lime run tho, props to that!) but I damn sure enjoyed the h3ll outta this last one.

Hey, I wasn't bashing, just innocently asking about the timing system.

The number of runs seems to have gone up from the "about 3 runs" promise, which was a bonus. I guess it was sort of a "you can run more if you want" kinda deal? Wish the potential unknowns like these would have been fleshed out beforehand. Our car was still in pieces this past weekend, unfortunately. About to get it on the ground again to go take it in to DP for paint and a cage.

Costas - do you happen to know how many competitors showed up to run the Aggiecross portion? Just curious to see what the amount of planning/forewarning produced. Again, not a bash. If there's any results posted, link them here.

Any reports on the "other events"? Pictures? Videos? Do tell.

Yeah guys

Mike Balzer, older member, said it best when he said we are all about cars but the event is about enjoying the friends you made then and still have today! I am as guilty as anyone about not seeing it from that perspective and wished more of our crowd would have been there. As well, since I have known him for a few years, he came over as well as some others and apologized for not getting more of our era involved. This event should have three or four hundred people in attendance if the preparation and communication is right. Make a goal to contact all the long lost friends and stay in contact.

As for the event, my goal was four runs and I would be happy. Personally, the biggest problem was that how they ran Aggiecross and how we ran Aggiecross was different. I was given credit for much more than I deserved for running the grid/much of the event by just doing how I was taught an Aggiecross ran. It worked out well as we had very few delays and no reruns due to timer f'ups. Some were there to cruise but there were plenty pushing some cars including the a very wicked Pantera that wasted an engine on his last run.

Heh heh heh. Well, the other thread had you and McCall both voicing opinions when neither of you were there and that is a little blech since the event went DAMN well and folks who wanted them took 5 runs. I understand 5 runs at 100$ is more like the cost of autocross in $ per minutes of track time and not comparable to open lapping cost, but that's ok.

Id say Nick was right with about 80-90 folks running the aggiecross portion.

But I'm TOTALLY with you guys for a 42nd reunion and having it more 'competition' oriented. But I've got to be honest and say that the sitting and chatting part was much better than I thought it would be. I listened in on a lot of conversations that were just priceless. Old stories and the beginnings of legends, etc.

We need some type of website for this. Where each person can put in their info and then type in who they were/what they did while they were there. Start attaching the stories with the names. Who had what car, who hit what barbed wire, who blew up what, etc... I think that'd be cool.

Sure, throw your Hateraid this way. I can take it as I'm a big boy(literally). The reason I was NOT there was pretty clear and I already stated it. The utter LACK of any real organization made it not worth my precious lack of free time these days, especially with my little one getting here in T-minus 5 weeks. I give props to those who stepped at the last minute to pull it off though and I'm glad it ended up being a cool event. That does give me hope and I'll be there next time.

I'm glad you, Paul, had a good time catching up/telling stories, etc and I agree that is very very important part of any reunion, BUT big money for track time and they used stop watches??? C'mon indeed. At that point it would have been better to just break people into groups and run 20 minute lapping sessions instead of 3-4 "timed" runs IMHO.

Anyway, we can ALL agree that it needs to happen again and this time all the groups will get involved. I'm all about the 42nd so let's do it! Anyone got a phone number for the track?

Hey guys

Whether you agree or not, Aggiecross is not a lapping session and it is hard to put a price on friends. As for stopwatches, why is everyone so wound up when Solo II classes are BS for a roadcourse type event. FWIW, I wish more of our era would have made it but I understand. $100 isn't a drop in the bucket once every couple of years.

The only thing I liked about the stopwatches is that you never have reruns!

If I'd know they had M2000 loaners, the 2.9 was being run (not the short course), didn't have to work a corner(I've never run out there an assumed an Aggiecross was like an autocross), got more than 3 runs, could have gotten away without an alignment (no curbs!), I'd have bucked up but I expected the worst and didn't sign up and immediately regretted it. It was the lowest-effort track event that could ever be aside from having my own private track in my backyard.

Everyone had a great time as did I from registration to the Lime Run to Aggiecross (running or watching or riding through on "parade" laps) to the car show to brunch through the post-brunch car show/chat to the drive home down OSR at speed and old Hwy 75 enjoying the countryside after that.

It was a good time and you are all lame for not going because of the various and sundry "excuses" you pulled out of your rational faginas! And your hate is dismissively absurd to read for those that went and saw it in person. Shame on you!
