    TECH BULLETINS

    2. Street Modified: In Appendix A, Street Modified, paragraph 2 is clarified to read: “Turbocharged or supercharged versions
    of all engines will be classified on the basis of adding 1.4 liters to the actual displacement.”
    3. Prepared: In Appendix A, Prepared Class X, paragraph 9.a.2 is clarified to read: “Turbocharged or supercharged versions of
    all engines will be classified on the basis of adding 1.4 liters to the actual displacement.”

    Once again they underestimate the potential power of a turbo charged engine.

    Which would you rather have, a 3.0L turbo or a 4.4L N/A ?

    Wouldn't it be 4.4L NA?

          "Which would you rather have, a 3.0L turbo or a 4.4L N/A ?" Since the car would weigh 3010lbs they would both suck.

          Class SM
          Eligible Vehicles:
          All sedans/coupes (models which were originally equipped with a
          minimum of four seats and four factory seat belts).
          Excluded Vehicles:
          Porsche, all
          Lotus, all
          Nissan / Datsun Z car 2+2, (Pre ’90)
          Honda CRX
          MGB GT
          Triumph, all
          Minimum Weight Calculations:
          All listed weights are without driver.
          FWD: 1550 lbs + 125 lbs/liter
          RWD: 1800 lbs + 200 lbs/liter
          AWD: 1800 lbs + 275 lbs/liter
          Cars with engine located behind driver: +25 lbs/liter
          Regardless of the weight formulas above, no car will be required to
          weigh more than 3100 lbs.

          3.0L = 2400 (NA)
          3.2L = 2440 (NA)
          (I think Vic runs this size, at least 350whp)
          2.5L = 2873 (Turbo +1.4L) (current STi size)
          2.0L = 2735 (Turbo +1.4L) (old WRX size, easy 350whp but with lag)

          I guess the +1.4L rule isn't so bad after all.

            Here is the SM2 breakdown:

            Class SM2
            Eligible Vehicles:
            A - All two-seat cars not excluded below.
            B - All SM eligible sedans/coupes excluded from SM.
            C - All SM eligible vehicles.
            Excluded Vehicles:
            Lotus, all except Elise, Exige, and Esprit
            Vehicles not meeting minimum weights
            Minimum Weight Calculations:
            All listed weights are without driver.
            FWD: 1350lbs + 125 lbs/liter
            RWD: 1600 lbs + 200 lbs/liter
            AWD: 1600 lbs + 275 lbs/liter
            Cars with engine located behind driver: +25 lbs/liter
            Regardless of the weight formulas above, no car will be required to
            weigh more than 2900 lbs.

            3.0L = 2200 (NA)
            3.2L = 2240 (NA)
            2.5L = 2673 (Turbo +1.4L)
            2.0L = 2535 (Turbo +1.4L)

            What displacement is a 2 rotor wankle (13B) or 3 rotor wankle (20B)?

            I wonder how they stack up in the turbo vs. NA weight arguement.

              Re: June 2007 FasTrack

              I remember seeing the 13B rated as a 3.6L by some sanctioning bodies.

              The old "its only a 1.3L!" argument is weak, as the rotary is essentially a 2 stroke and uses a lot more fuel than a 1.3L.

              I don't see a specific mention of the 13B or 20B in these rules. Check prepard - it has to be in the XP ruleset (Erik's 20B RX7).

                Re: June 2007 FasTrack

                For SM2 your 2.0 liter turbo at 2535 is for a AWD
                A RWD 2.0 turbo would only be 2280
                I wonder how much tire can be put under a GXP
