SCCA Event #3 - TMS Bus Lot

Congrats to the Vorshlag boys on a 1/2 finish in STU in their respective cars. They sure did put on a good show for the AST guy. Paul was right there in the hunt as well. Amy and I jockeyed for 4th and I'm not sure who ended up in front. I spent the whole day plowing new fields unfortuantely but with Ronnie there (AST guy) he saw a few things that I need to change and I should have those done before the next event. Sean finished a very respectable 2nd in STX and should only get faster with fresh tires. MeL took STU-L as she continues to improve as well.

Well, I finished a hell of a lot better than I started, but still not good. I got DFL with I think a 52.2, and I think 50.9 won it. As you can see from that slalom video, I need less front bar and more seat time.

Thanks. It probably doesn't hurt we had the AST rep there. He might come to Nationals with us. He was interested in it.

Allrighty, played with DL-1 and AX22 data.

• Paul out brakes me by 0.1g
• Paul's old tires pulled the same g's on one side and more on the other, sorry Paul!
• I was 3-5 mph faster than either Paul or Fair on the straight after the slalom
• Fair wins the braking contest beating Paul by 0.2g
• Paul's car pulls 0.1g more than me everytime he accelerates

Ouch! I got snaked by .085 seconds. Nice job to Hanchey in his first weekend racing the STi. Lots of potential left in that car.

Punky coned away to mid 52 runs and got bumped to 6th behind Henry! He had some fast raw times on new RE01Rs, too. More data favoring those tires...

Henry has never run Yoks so it would be hard to compare. We do know however that the RE01R's are superior in grip to the 615's. Henry mentioned that the B'stones have a softer sidewall than the 615's even though they are shorter aspect 40 vs 45.

I think this might be a good arguement to adding more camber. I am very curious to how much camber you have with you in the car.

Paul are you going to try out the B'stones? I think you have had your set-up the longest and you have run multiple sets of both the 615s and Yoks. That could probably give us all the best feedback.

Interesting. I was actually wondering about that yesterday. How does the sidewall of the Yok compare to 615s?

Hanchey re-posted new front and rear camber numbers in the STi setup thread in this forum. We changed the camber from Saturday to Sunday. Its at the setting you guys said "looked like 6 degrees" at the Pennington event... the numbers are higher than "what everyone on the internet recommends..." so it has to be wrong.

I kid!

And what's up with John Deere avatar McCall?? What changed in the car setup that made it all of a sudden an undrivable plow machine - it seemed to work well with the same exact setup at the previous 3 events where it won the class. I drove it for 1 run at Pennington and the slight push wasn't that terrible (hell, the M3 had the same push at low speeds).

Notice your fastest time was your first run... when you were driving conservatively. Your next 3 runs looked wildly overdriven. Hey, my best was run 2 and I think I had some of the same overdriving issues.

That said, Ronnie with AST did mention some potential for improvement with the rear rebound settings and we revalved another set of rears on Sunday night. Put those on and then quit driving like a crack whore. Don't be like some of us (me included) and immediately blame the car. Mel sure looked fast in it.
