  • New Year's Eve: Open House & Party

    Howdy!

Amy and Terry are planning a New Years' Eve Party and Open House at our new home (on New Year's Eve, Dec 31st!).

The "Open House" will start around 1pm on NYE day. Remember the show "Monster House"? This is more like "Disaster House", or "How not to build a custom home in 12 painful months". You are welcome to come check out the new Fair Casa. Bring the young, old, infirm - all are welcome. Feel free to:
    • Add suggestions to the "You know what you need?" Home Improvement Whiteboard
    • Play "Pin the tail on the Donkey (Builder)"
    • Sketch out your own design for the unfinished: Media Room, Rear Patio/Deck, Garage, or Subterranean Lair (crayons, Elmer's Glue and safety scissors will be provided).
    • Make fun of the wall-to-freagin-wall carpet... everywhere
    • Door prize for the first person to successfully name the decade of manufacture for each living room furniture piece

We will have all the food, drinks and/or empty boxes you can eat. Yum!

If you are planning on attending the evening's festivities, those start around 8pm (adults only please). We will have snacks, drinks, laughs, empty box castle building contests, and maybe get into some serious Texas Hold' Em poker. Bring some small change!

Please RSVP for the party; no need for RSVP for Open House. See you during the day, evening, night, whatever.

    Happy Holidays,
    Terry and Amy Fair

oh yea... do we want to do a gift exchange at the evening party? You know, like we did last year.... everyone buys a single nice guy or girl $15-20 gift and we do a random gift exchange. Maybe with a white elephant twist for the randomized exchange.

This would be totally optional, of course.

    Thoughts?

I'm not sure about everyone else but we picked up some simple gifts for everyone in Hawaii and will be distributing those at the party (for those who haven't been by our house to get one already). Of course if we want to do the W.E. thing that's cool as well.

          Hey Fairs,

Thanks again for hosting! Your house is huuuge and the garage is even larger! Awesome!

I had to jet early cuz I agreed that I would spend half the evening at one and half at the other.

Oh and when did you get that TV - I think you posted about it awhiles back, it's huge too! Did the chocolate fountain ever catch fire?

oH mY HeAD! hang-over relief needed...

Thanks everyone for coming to the NYE party! This was a good one - we packed the house and had a great gathering of family and friends for this one. Having this party gave Amy and I the incentive we needed to get unpacked and moved in, ~3 weeks after we got the keys.

The old Xbox got a workout with the best 4-person games ever... drunk. TIP: Never sit in front of Deena "Monkey Toes" Duffy when playing a console game. I have bruises! Texas Hold'Em went for a good while with 6-8 people. The W.E. gift exchange was also pretty large.

We just got everything set-up just in time, too... by 1 pm people were showing up (for the open house) and I was still stashing things under the bed - and Amy was nowhere to be seen!?

Special thanks to Jason McCall and Brian Hanchey, for donating more than a few DAYS to help me outfit the garage. We had some other helpers, too... Paul (epoxy man), Amy's step dad David, and some others. Of course a lot of the wiring pre-work was done by McCall and B.Howard during the WiringFest months back, when they installed the 15 conduited drops and boxes that we utilized this week for electrical. We dropped numerous 110 and 220V circuits to get much needed outlets, welder, air compressor, and 6 different fluorescent lights. Thanks to Duck and Sean for loaning the banquet tables that will be used for a short while until I can build/buy some work tables!

Amy had a lot of help from Melinda, Deena and her mom in getting the inside house stuff unpacked, sorted, organized, decorated and put away. I can't believe how much they got done in the past 2 days alone! And who says you can't decorate for Christmas a week AFTER Christmas??

Will post pictures later, as my alcohol swelled brain shrinks back to normal size inside of my skull.

edit: thanks to everyone who brought additional food and drinks for the party!

OK, that's funny. The least you could do is turn my shirt blue and put a STI cap on me.
