Coned my 2nd run. I was putting the smack down on day 2.

Next year I'll have a car and driver setup for street tires. I was only 2s off Lee Piconne's M3 with 285 Hoosiers. I'd call that pretty good. :

Nationals is so much fun. You guys need to fit it in your schedules more often. Seems like the top 4 drivers in each class are actually good then you have also rans. Hell, I was a couple of tenths off some pretty mean Corvettes and I was on street tires! Win or lose, being there is cool. I heard that possibly by next year they were paving some new property somewhere nearby. No more beat up concrete! They already have like $5M ready to plop down.

Thanks, Cody... We were certainly hoping for better than 6th and 10th, but at least we got to walk across the stage again, so that was cool. We learned alot, too, from some of our mistakes this year. It's all good, though....

Todd put together an awesome performance in the baddest car mankind has ever known: Shawn Cousin's '69 Camaro. 310 inch Trans Am motor, Jerico, aluminum center sectioned 9" rear end, flares....and did I mention the flat black paint? Yup. It's evil all right.

And Frank did a really good job taking the 3rd spot in F-Stock! Suprised to see the numbers in the class dimishing, though.

We had a really good time. Drinking beer, riding minibikes, doing smoky burnouts on said minibikes after drinking said beer. Yup, it was fun.

There's a thread on corner-carvers.com (search for Solo II Roll Call) with some pics and discussion...

              ESP Results

Tommy, ESP ran 5th heat. How is it that the Evo was faster on one course and TWO seconds back on the other? I thought it rained in the morning, but this wouldn't follow that.

Actually, the Evo was just as fast on Day One. He just coned his best run (+2) so his 49.9 became a 53.9 run. So the rally buggies were certainly well within the hunt. Given time and development, I think they will overtake ESP.

FYI for those not at Nationals, the rally buggies were nicely prepped in ESP. Most were running 285/30-18's or 275/40-17's. The Evos seemed to fit them with only marginal fender rolling. The STi's not so much.

Marginal?? That red one had the "jaws of life" expander put the hurt on the rear fenders. Ouch, all bent up. The silver one looked awesome. My buddy Joel from Atlanta, that STi looked stupid with 285s all ghetto'd out and lifted so they wouldn't hit the fenders. GHEY.

I want an Evo MR so bad. All the reviews say it fixes all the cr4p on the regular one. Interior is still hurting tho. I think an Evo would take STU as long as it kept running.

Cool vid... I'm waiting on mine right now.

I spoke with the guy with the red Evo. The flares were mangled, but didn't need to be. His guy just did a really crappy job!

Insulating material from Home Depot, cut and duct taped to make tire warmers. Well, not so much "warmers" as they are "heat retainers".
