  • SCCA at TMS Road Course, Sept 28, 2008

I thought I had done a write up on this event, but apparently not. Lots of you local racers missed this event - the best one SCCA puts on each year! Shame, shame... Granted, it did come just a week after the Solo Nationals, but still. Next year: no excuses.

Amy ran the E30 and I ran the Alpha car at the annual "road course" event held by the SCCA. Matt ran his GTI in the massive Novice class - and threw away the win with cones. McCall took 1st and Paul took 3rd in STU. Ledbetter took the win in STX. Great event, beautiful weather, and the course is always a blast. Its the ONE event you should NEVER miss if you are a DFW area racer.

The E30 sprung a coolant leak on the drive over to TMS, but a quick trip to AutoZone and a few choice words by me and the car was back in action before the driver's meeting. I missed the walk through but managed to find the course on my first run. The Alpha car continued to have ABS problems (we had thrown some parts at it after Nationals, but to no avail) and I had to "baby" the brake pedal to avoid serious lockup. The problem was later found to be a fault ABS computer. Oh well, I got 2 runs in and my times weren't terrible. This course is SO much fun I didn't really care.

In-car video from my 2nd run

Just got my video transfer card working again so I threw together that video last night. In the end Amy had some major cone trouble (cone killah!) but cleaned it up enough to get one clean run in and took the "W" class win. I was the XP winner.... in a class of 1.

    Cheers,
