  • Low turn out for MW Pro?

    Hey guys,
Bob emailed me asking why there are only 88 people signed up for the Pro Solo. Any ideas why?

They were looking for some innovative ways to promote it. Any ideas?

I haven't signed up because it is supposed to be free and I wasn't sure how to do that. I guess I should email Nancy Downing.

It's friggin June in Mineral Wells. What more needs to be said?

I talked to alot of people at the Houston Tour... other than the few from this board, none of them were going.

All of the bad press from last years Pro's is keeping people away (or so I heard).

Me... I'll be papa by then... so no MW.

I might guess that the price of gas? crappy surface? cost of participating(ie tire wear, etc.)?, lack of hardcore autoxers currently? money? SCCA?

              pick any of the above

                88 is a low #?

There were 171 at the Walnut Pro, so I'd say 88 is pretty damned weak. I'd prolly come out of quitterdom for the pro even if only to run BS on my streets and get killed, but I have a wedding to attend out of town that weekend.

And if the price of gas alters your normal, in-town autox schedule then maybe your margins are a bit too thin to be autoxing in the first place. Even the Maverick Region PCA can get more than 88 people to show up for an autox...

I wasn't talking about the price of gas from DFW. I was meaning all the typical pro participants from the coasts. Two other things might be the motels all being booked up in MW and why would anyone outside of TX travel this far when so many of the Pros are on the coasts or closer to them?
