I sent this to the BMW list, FYI for anyone here that plans to attend this event.
Hey guys,
We bought some digital scales and ramps with the intent of tuning our
own cars, but also to corner weight fellow enthusiasts' cars. We've
done about 30 weightings so far and have started to do corner weight
adjustments for people.
With the approval of the Autocross Committee, we plan on bringing them
to some local events to do quick 4 corner weightings for a nominal fee
($20). Most shops charge $250-300+ for a full corner weighting
session. This will allow you to quickly baseline your cars at an
event (where you will already be in "full race trim") before taking
that plunge. This won't be a full corner weighting session, just a
chance to roll your car on the scales and see what it weighs (with
corner weights, front/rear bias, and cross weight %). We record the
data in our database and will send a pdf file to anyone that participates.
Again, the first event we'll bring them to is the March 11th BMW
autocross at Mineral Wells. We'll be available all afternoon to weigh
cars. The weights taken at the event will be compiled and given to
the Autocross Committee for possible inclusion with the autocross
results at their discretion.
After you weigh your car, you can also do a quick alignment check.
We'll be bringing toe plates and a digital camber gauge which will
give you total toe per axle (not individual) and camber per wheel.
We will also have a pressure equalizing Longacre Racing tire gauge on
hand that you can check your tire gauge against. As a side note, we
checked three (regular) gauges so far and they were all off by as much
as 3 psi. See you in March.
Thanks,
Brian Hanchey and Terry Fair
