Ok, in all honesty, who here is really excited about the new M3? I mean it's neat and all and I bet it will be fast, BUT it will end up costing over $60k large .

No one here in the near (or far) future will ever be able to afford one so to me it's just on par with a new Porsche or Ferrari. Again, I'd love to drive one but it will never be on my purchase list.

hehe, that's my point. A E46 M3 was such a price leap over the E36 M3 that just now, 6-7 years later, we are finally considering one. Of course now you are paying $20k+ for a 6-7 year old vehicle with some mileage/wear.

This new M3 is going to be a large price increase over the E46 M3 that in probably 10+ years we will finally start to consider picking one up.

I've got to agree.... If I had a little over $60K burning a hole in my pocket I'd rather have a Z06 that will run circles around it.

This has been true for every M3. When the E36 came out (starting around $37k), you could have a 330hp C4 LT4 for $30k. Then the C5/E46 came out, same story. Corvettes always have 100hp on BMWs and cost less.

Face it, none of us 20-30 somethings are the target market for M3s. They want us to be 1ers.

Good points but:
- never before has BMW tried to play with a V8 in the $60K+ range against a vette.
- never before has the Corvette been a super-car killer at the same price point.

I also agree that we are definitely not the target market. At that price point though, I wonder who is? Most people in that range either want a full p1mp sedan or a true sports car. The new M3 is neither. I also bet they will canabolize a lot of sales from the M6.

Then finance the other $10K I guess hehe. Just teasing, but the sticker is $70K now. A bargain for the performance, even if most of us can't afford it.

At 60k vs 95k, 400hp vs 500hp, prolly not so much.
