    Re: March 17, 2006

Hatchback STI? Say it ain't so! I would feel like I'm driving my Escort GT from college. Though I guess I don't really matter anyway since I don't see myself fitting in the new one either.

I don't signal everytime I change lanes.. I don't consider it needed if there is a huge amount of room. Now If I need to get in and need someone to let me in, I signal.

When in a turn only lane, do you guys signal? I mean, you are already in a turn only lane, you have to turn, why signal?

I signal 99.99% of the time, even if I'm the only one on the road or in a turn only lane.

Ditto. Force of (good) habit. I HATE it when people don't signal or drive forever with their signal on--sometimes the move, sometimes they don't. You just never know....

Ditto...but mainly because I've been pulled over once for "not signaling and illegal lane change"

I think he just wanted to make sure I didn't have illegal blue vacuum lines...heh

I do as well. The German living with me makes fun of lazy American drivers who don't signal since it is ingrained in Germany. Maybe we should take a hint from them since they can acutally operate a speedlimitless highway system.

I, for one, would vote to replace our driving system with theirs.

I don't know about that. I've heard that its illegal to make hand geistures there! I'd have to cut off my middle fingers!

I also use my signal majority of the time.

I'd be willing to give up flicking people off if I could travel legally 120+ mph down I45. Heck, I could get to Houston in about 2 hours

I do too, but unless its packed I usually only let it blink once

If I'm on the outside of that turn only lane and there's two, I signal because

                          1. I saw a SEMITRUCK going 40mph in the inside turn lane never touch his brakes and went straight and luckily the person in the outside lane wasn't exactly next to him...

                          2. A week later, I saw some lady in a white old Cavalier go straight from the inside turn lane and a Suburban in the outside turn lane swerve pretty hard and ended up going straight to avoid hitting the Cavalier that didn't turn

                          3. A person on this board got hit by a Mercedes that went straight on the inside turn lane (Car news is a public forum )

                          4. In high school, when I first started driving, some old man went straight in the inside turn lane and I had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting him and he never even knew what he did, so I've been scarred.

Yup. I signal 99% of the time. I've seen WAY too many people go straight from turn-only lanes. North-bound 75 access road @ Bethany is a good example. I'd rather warn people with a signal than have them assume what I'm doing and I'd MUCH rather they do me the same courtesy. Sadly that's not the case and I've got to anticipate what every nimrod and j4ck-azz is gonna do.
