Tire size for rear of Z3

Recently purchased an 02 Z3 2.5 Roadster...I need rear tires and wondered if a 275 35 18 would fit on the rear. The car has 18 x 8.5 wheels front, 18 x 9.5 rear. A couple of reasons I want to do this..one is asthetics...I like the look. The other reason is the speedometer is 3 to 4 mph fast at 30 to 70 mph. The current tire size on the rear is 255 35 18, 25 inches tall. Most of the 275 35 18 tires I have looked at are closer to 25.5 inches tall. I think the half inch in diameter would put the speedo closer to what it should be...Question is, will they fit?

You came to the right place to ask. We've tested all manner of wheel and tire sizes on a Z3 (non-M) and here are some pics:


18x10" with 285/30/18 Hoosier, no spacer




Front was an 18x9" with a 255/35/18, rear was the 18x10" with 285/30/18

In short... yes, the 275 rear will fit on the rear, with the right wheel and backspacing. Probably on the stock rear wheel, too.
