{"id":769,"date":"2014-04-14T15:56:18","date_gmt":"2014-04-14T23:56:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vorshlag.com\/blog\/?p=769"},"modified":"2014-04-15T05:56:53","modified_gmt":"2014-04-15T13:56:53","slug":"vorshlag-scion-fr-s-lsx-alpha-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vorshlag.com\/blog\/2014\/04\/vorshlag-scion-fr-s-lsx-alpha-project","title":{"rendered":"Vorshlag Scion FR-S LSx Alpha Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We at Vorshlag love the &#8220;86 twins&#8221;, also known as the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/vorshlag.smugmug.com\/Projects\/Alpha-FR-s-LS3-Vorshlag\/i-wCWJsNh\/1\/M\/_DSC2893-M.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There is already an extensive build thread (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vorshlag.com\/forums\/showthread.php?t=8145\">here<\/a><\/strong>) documenting the various suspension, wheel, tire and brake upgrades we have tested on a 2013 Subaru BRZ chassis. We&#8217;ve seen that with the right mods this chassis is a capable track and autocross car. The one thing these cars lack is <strong>horsepower<\/strong>. But we&#8217;re working on a reliable, powerful and track worthy solution, which involved removing the stock drivetrain forever.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/vorshlag.smugmug.com\/Projects\/Alpha-FR-s-LS3-Vorshlag\/i-9whMMSX\/1\/M\/_DSC3052-M.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What did you expect, a nuclear reactor? Of COURSE we&#8217;re putting an LS-series aluminum V8 into one of these already! Thanks to our partners on this project, Texas Track Works, we have found the &#8220;Alpha&#8221; customer and have begun documenting an LSx swap into <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vorshlag.com\/forums\/showthread.php?t=8275\">this 2013 Scion FR-S<\/a><\/strong>. Right now the forum build thread is posted on the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vorshlag.com\/forums\/showthread.php?t=8275\">Vorshlag Forums<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/forums.corner-carvers.com\/showthread.php?t=48178\">Corner-Carvers<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sccaforums.com\/forums\/aft\/445569\">SCCAforums<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dfwmiata.com\/threads\/25916-Vorshlag-Scion-FR-S-LSx-Alpha-Project\">DFWMiatas<\/a><\/strong>, but we&#8217;re looking at an ft86-specific forum to add to that list shortly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/vorshlag.smugmug.com\/Projects\/Alpha-FR-s-LS3-Vorshlag\/i-MHFwLwj\/1\/M\/_DSC7717-M.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As we make progress on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vorshlag.com\/forums\/showthread.php?t=8275\">this FR-S V8 swap<\/a><\/strong> we will update each of these threads simultaneously &#8211; as well as this blog. And don&#8217;t worry if you&#8217;re awaiting updates on one of our other new swap kits &#8211; like our <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vorshlag.com\/forums\/showthread.php?t=7939\">BMW E46 LSx Alpha&#8217;s<\/a><\/strong> CAN-BUS wiring harness or <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vorshlag.com\/forums\/showthread.php?t=8142\">NB Miata V8 swap<\/a><\/strong> kit (see below) &#8211; those project are all being worked on actively, and those build threads will be updated soon as well.
