{"id":1468,"date":"2018-10-05T13:41:53","date_gmt":"2018-10-05T21:41:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vorshlag.com\/blog\/?p=1468"},"modified":"2018-10-05T13:41:53","modified_gmt":"2018-10-05T21:41:53","slug":"550-mustang-we-add-safety-suspension-hoosiers-and-go-to-nasa-nats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vorshlag.com\/blog\/2018\/10\/550-mustang-we-add-safety-suspension-hoosiers-and-go-to-nasa-nats","title":{"rendered":"550 Mustang: We add Safety, Suspension, Hoosiers and go to NASA Nats!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We had a very busy September and managed to squeeze in a little development work and parts installation onto our 2018 Mustang GT test mule, which we cover in great detail in our <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vorshlag.com\/forums\/showthread.php?p=58752#post58752\">S550 Forum Build Thread<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Racing-Events\/NASA-Nationals-COTA-091418\/i-Whsrwcr\/2\/985178fd\/M\/P7A_1493-M.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The changes we made in <em>the week<\/em> before the 2018 NASA National Championship event at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) were huge, and it helped us make a leap forward in on-track performance. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Projects\/Vorshlag-2018-Mustang\/i-B2Gs7jP\/0\/809988e3\/M\/P9131056-M.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We added a new 4-point roll bar we built, a seat bracket kit we designed, a Sparco Circuit II seat, and Scroth harnesses for safety.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Projects\/Vorshlag-2018-Mustang\/i-jzDWX8D\/0\/0e13331a\/M\/P9110989-M.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>MCS RR2 remote reservoir double adjustable monotube coilovers + more spring rate cut down on the roll\/dive\/squat. Hoosier A7 tires in 315\/30\/19 added a lot of mechanical grip.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Product-Pictures\/Powerbrake\/i-nPTdnnS\/0\/a75af363\/M\/B61G4028-M.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A massive 380x34mm 6-piston Powerbrake kit added a lot of stopping power &#8211; with 1.5g stops recorded on data, lap after lap. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Racing-Events\/NASA-Nationals-COTA-091418\/i-fcH4GbV\/1\/c647566b\/M\/P7A_2203-M.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We took all of these changes to NASA Nationals and then chronicle the Time Trial competition in great detail.
