So what is stack up height? Stack up height is how "thick" the camber plate assembly is. This thickness is important because it determines the maximum amount of travel the suspension can achieve. The thinner the camber plate, the more available suspension travel.
Vorshlag Motorsports defines the stack up height to be from the bottom surface of the strut tower to the surface at which the suspension bump stop contacts the camber plate. This dimension determines the theoretical absolute maximum amount of suspension travel available. Note that the stack up height is NOT a measurement from the top of the coil spring! The location of the spring top is usually above the bump stop contact area and has no relation to the total of amount of suspension travel.

1996-99 M3s have "Strut tower reinforcements". This is basically a steel plate sandwiched between the strut mount and strut tower to reinforce the top of the strut tower. This plate is 3.3mm thick and adds to the stack up height. Note that these reinforcement plates are not required with Vorshlag Camber plates.
