Vorshlag Motorsports is a design and manufacturing firm specializing in building automotive suspension products. We do more than that, too - our current business has three facets: manufacture of various suspension components of our own design, sold direct to customers and through our network of Vorshlag dealers; fabrication and repair of suspension and chassis components on competition cars; and retail sales of competition-oriented automotive components from our own and other companies' lines, including monotube shocks from both AST and Moton. Much of the time spent in our shop is doing research and development on new Vorshlag products. We also have some services we offer the general public, which are epxlained below.

Development & Testing
|

As stated above, the bulkk of our time in the Vorshlag shop facility is spent measuring cars, installing our products onto to test cars, and preparing a few race cars that we have in our stable. If we have contacted you about prototype testing and you are located in the Dallas, Texas, area we may offer to install some products at our R&D facility. This is to help us find any installation issues, verify durability, to take pictures for installation instructions, and to do some baseline set-up with the parts. Being a tester for Vorshlag does not automatically mean we will be installing parts onto your car.

Suspension Installation, Set-up and Pre-Track Tech
|

Vorshlag has come to learn many tricks for proper suspension installation and set-up over the years. When it comes to automotive suspnesion - that's our gig; it is what we know best. We can install your high end coilover suspension, make custom mounts and chassis pass-thrus for remote reservoirs and hoses, corner weigh and balance the chassis, and give your car the race alignment it needs. We are a bit picky on jobs like this and won't just install any random coilover kit, so call for more details. Since we stock Hyperco and Swift springs, Powerflex and Energy bushings, AST and Moton coilovers, and have access to countless more brands we are confident that with our help you can have the suspension system you always dreamed of. One item that virtually all HPDE track day groups require is a pre-race inspection. Sometimes this can be handled at the track the day of the event but most HPDE groups much prefer that the car is checked out stem to stern at a qualified shop. This way the car can be put on a lift, the various suspension and brake nutsand bolts can be checked, systems can be inspected for leaks, brake pads can get a look, wheel studs and lug nuts can be torqued, and a brake fluid flush can be perfomed if necessary. Vorshlag is a NASA approved HPDE tech shop and we have done many pre-race inspections for track junkies. We are a stocking Motul dealer as well and can get your brake fluid flushed with RBF600 or 660, or something more cost effective like ATE blue or Castrol LMA.

Custom Fabrication Work
|

Vorshlag has the capability to do many fabrication jobs that most shops cannot or will not tackle. These are outlined below. Basically, if something needs to be cut, welded, machined, bent, or joined, we can handle it.
Racing Exhaust Systems
From custom built exhaust headers to mandrel bent complete stainless exhaust systems, Vorshlag has the capability for makng your race or street car sound good, make more power, and save pounds. All of our exhaust systems are made from mandrel bent, U.S.-made 304L stainless steel tubing, joined with V-band flanges, TIG-welded, and made to fit the chassis to offer the best ground clearance, with the best flow possible, at the lightest weight. We do not make cheap systems or quickie repairs - this work must be scheduled in advance, sometimes requiring an appointment to put the car in the air for an estimate, just to make sure we can get the proper parts on hand. Vorshlag stocks high-flow catylitic convertors and quite a few 16 gauge 304SS mandrel bends in 2.5" and 3" and can get any size bend necessary, as well as any muffler. Chassis Repair and Reinforcement
We have familiarity with many generations of BMW chassis, and know all of their weak points. The trunk floor of the E30 and Z3 have a tendency to fail from the single ear differental cover mount, and we have updated a number of these to dual ear mount with our own custom fabrication work. This involves 3 days of diassembly, fabrication, adding steel tubing between the frame rails and seam welding it all to the chassis, then adding the dual ear diff cover mount and new swaybar mounts. Once we do this upgrade its not going to break again!
Another common problem is the subframe mounting points on E36 and especially E46 generaiton BMW 3 series. These will all crack over time, no matter if its a street car or a track rat. There is a relatively cost effective reinforement kit from Turner Motorsports that we can install, but there's more to it than just "slapping the plates on" and welding it up. We have done several of these repairs and have a good handle on the hours, costs, and have work that is second to none. Race Seat Installation
Let's say you are ready to step-up and install a race seat into yoru autocross, track or race car. The company you get the seat from might even have brackets to install them into you excact car. Trouble is, they never fit just quite right. The seat is sitting too high (your helmet is touching the roof), too far to one side, the seat is hitting the door, etc. So many variables go into proper seat installation, and many of them depend on yoru body type and seat position. Vorshlag is known for handling these tricky installaitons and doing it right. Low profile dual-locking seat sliders, custom floor brackets, integral harness mounts - we can help with all of that. Strut Repair & Custom Suspension Fab
If you have a stru housing that is bent, cracked, flexing, you need shortened, or maybe you want to build something for scratch - Vorshlag can help. Literally anything you can dream up for automotive suspension can be designed, fabricated, and even built in produciton runs here at Vorshlag. We have built a number of custom lower spring perches to work with coilover struts, fur use in racing classes that only allow the factory spring to be used. SCCA Solo Stock class is a common use for these, as are some club racing classes.
Product Design and Fabrication
With our engineering and fabrication experience we have tackled some non-automotive design and development for some other industries. We can provide 3D assembly drawings, engineering prints, rapid protoyped products, and even create production fixtures with laser cut parts for a precise part that you can say is made in the USA. Engine Swaps

You may already know about Vorshlag's various engine swap projects and engine swap kits. We have been putting LS1 V8 engines into BMWs since 2002, and have the best selling V8 swap kit for the E36 and Z3 chassis on the market. We've also put this all-aluminum domestic V8 into the E30 chassis, E46 chassis, and more.
