New Evo Wheels

With the help of Nick at Discount Tire along with a lot of research on-line I have narrowed down my Evo wheels to two choices. Both have advantages and drawbacks.

Here are the finalists:

Enkei RPF-1s






With the offsets made, the only sizes that fit the car are 17x8.5 or 17x9.5. Of course I'd only prefer the 9.5" which are shown above with 245 Yoks. The main problem is with the only offset offered I have to run spacers in the front. Now these spacers have to be a whopping 18mm wide. At that size you bascially have to get bolt-on spacers and I found someone who can make me a pair of hubcentric ones for $160 shipped.

Also, these wheels are 16.5lbs. Here's the last thing, and it's big, I can get these wheels for only $240 each which is the cheapest I found. See next post for the other choice

Then there's the WedsSport 17x9





The pictures on the car are shown in bronze but I'd get the silver ones. The advantage of these wheels are that they fit on the car without the need of any spacer. The disadvanges are that they are only 9" (not a big deal), weigh 17lbs (ok, that's only .5lbs more than the Enkeis), but they cost $100 more per wheel than the others.

So there's my choices. I'm leaning towards the Enkeis just because I've had them before and the build quality is awesome, they are lighter, wider, and cheaper but I'd a bit worried about the whole spacer thing.

I hate spacers, but the Enkeis seem like a good deal

How much do the 18mm spacers weigh? Don't forget to add that in. If they're a pound each, the weight diff is moot. The WedsSport has curb rash scratched all over them. I have an eye for these things.

Good point. They are billet aluminum but I am also adding 5 more studs and nuts so good point. Weight is moot.

Nope, those are on backorder nationwide. Yea not a bad deal but I really don't like the ricer 5-spoke look. Thanks for looking though.

Spacers 1-5mm = non-hubcentric OK
6-12mm = needs to be hubcentric and fit tightly
15+mm = bolt on only

The problem I see with using those hugemongous 20mm bolt-on spacers is they are a HUGE HASSLE to remove. So, you will never take them off. Then, when you slap the street wheels back on they will stick out the front like mad!

Now that's some funny stuff. Of course for the time you spent doing that you could have worked on the customer's car, built more shelves, or shipped more parts. Hanchey is going to be pissed!
