  • Vorshlag's E36 LS1 at the 2008 GRM UTCC!

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3041266 - please go here and vote for this car for the UTCC entry.

If we get enough votes we will find a way to get the car to Button Willow.

(Thanks to Costas for the prodding we needed to get this site up! Any other UTCC hopefuls on our little forum?)

Yes. I'm sure we'll do some graphics at some point.

Are the bumpers getting painted too or did you just catch it mid-paint?

The car is umm.... not painted yet. Does it somehow look finished??

That's just spot primer to cover up the semi-finished fender bodywork. It was rushed thru bodywork to have some other work done last week (that never happened) and then Brian picked it up, worked on it some more, and ran it at TMS Bus Lot on Sunday (in the wet - yuck). Another set of 17" tires is mounted (275/315), this time Hoosiers made more recently than the 2005 vintage used set we had been running on. The R compound Hankooks will go back on for the UTCC and other road course use.

I'll snap a picture of it this week with the CCWs on. Even with just patch-painted primer and preliminary bodywork it still looks 10X better than it did with just the welded on flares, of course. Once it is 100% white (the brighter 1995 Alpine White of the E36 M3 CSL, not the Alpine White III our car was originally painted) it will be all good....

OK, we got the invite from GRM and a "you guys better be there!" for UTCC on June 8th. We've gotten a lot done on the E36 since the last update in this thread and we've got a lot more to do still. Running out of time with the final paintwork and cage installation looming over the next few weeks before we head out to Cali... and we still haven't taken the car on a road course yet, nor do we have our NASA Time Trial licenses!

Never fear - this is what we called "cramming for finals" back in college.

So this weekend just got booked with 3 events in the Alpha car: we're running all day Friday at MSR-C, Saturday at TWS and Sunday at Mineral Wells. Friday is a shake down test session, Saturday is for our NASA test, and Sunday is SCCA event. We're taking the E30 and Alpha car to all 3 events, of course. The E30 is our back-up car.

We'll also have Ronnie from AST here with us all week and thru Saturday, to help with some new product testing, shock dyno work, and ride along tuning help. Lots of pictures and video to follow from both cars.

Anyone interested in helping is more than welcome. We've got so many little things to do. Change oil, mount passenger seat, move battery, mount E30 driver's seat, swap springs, mount 12V plugs, etc.

If anyone is free this week at night we could use some help! Working till 2AM last night just wasn't cutting it apparently.
