For Sale: 2005 Subaru Legacy GT built for GRAND-AM ST Class

This car was originally built by GoTo Racing. Brian Lock of GTR now runs the A.M. Performance 370Z team in GRAND-AM. The car holds the lap record at Miller Motorsports Park and raced a limited GRAND-AM schedule for several years.

    What is it?
Per GRAND-AM rules the car must remain relatively stock minus safety equipment. GoTo used the car in GRAND-AM and USTCC so it comes with several trim setups. On 98 octane the car has 240 whp and 280 wtq which is good enough to pull E46 M3s out of any turn on the track. AST purchased the car last summer to test our new GRAND-AM spec dampers. Since then, we have access to data from several teams including 7 post testing. This makes our test program redundant not to mention poorly funded in comparison.

    What do you get?

2005 Subaru Legacy GT with 2.5L turbo
Custom tuned Access Port from Cobb Tuning Plano for 93 and 98 Octane maps
Save fuel costs when the extra power isn't needed
AST 5220 GRAND-AM spec dampers, remote reservoir, compression and rebound adjustable
    VAC CNC camber plates
    Cobb cat-less downpipe
Vorshlag stainless 3" turn-down (no muffler)
    Various spring setups
Custom sway bars with Cobb end links
3 sets of ROTA wheels, some 17x8 and 17x8.5
Set of used Conti tires, Dunlop StarSpecs
StopTech 4 piston front and 2 piston rear brakes
Multiple sets of spare pads and rotors both new and used
    KAAZ locking rear diff
    Race Technology DASH2 LCD Dash
Displays and records water temp, oil temp, oil pressure
Race Technology DL-1 with OBD2 cable
New fuel cell bladder (good for 5 years), $700 replacement
Double dry break fuel filler for GRAND-AM pit stops
RaceTech halo seat with back brace (required since seat is out of date)
    New Schroth HANS compatible harness
    New Schroth right side net
    New brake ducting
Recently recharged SPAL 4.0L electric fire system (good for 2 years)
Recent "race car" paint job with new driver's side doors, white
6 point cage also tied into the A and B pillars and floor behind main hoop
With driver weight = 3200 pounds

    Spares package includes:
    Open rear diff
    Transmission
    3 intercoolers
    Rotors and pads
    Turbo
    Brake booster
    OEM suspension components
    Multiple half shafts
    Hubs
    Lexan front and rear windshields
    Lexan side rear windows
    Spare front glass windshield
    Spherical rear control arms

What can you do with this car?

For starters you can run it in NASA TTB or PTB. In its current state, it has several points to play with. It can be run in NASA endurance racing as well. It is still legal for GRAND-AM ST or SCCA World Challenge TC. With minor changes (OEM brakes for GA, OEM rear brakes for WC) the car can race professionally. Typical GRAND-AM ST cars cost $50,000 to build or $10-15,000 per race to rent. World Challenge TC cars cost the same with a weekend rental up to $25,000. Single driver and higher priced tires are to blame. SCCA Club Racing also has classing now for retired WC cars.

As a side note, the 2008 and up WRX actually uses the Legacy style turbo so new aftermarket support is available. For about $2,500 you can add a turbo, intercooler, and injectors and make up to 320 whp! Reclassing would be required of course.

    Price:

    $17,000

Add just the spares, shocks, recent updates and the price of a cage and you'll exceed the asking price. This is an excellent deal for someone looking to hop in and possibly race professionally on a grassroots budget! Car is currently in Plano, TX. Can be delivered to any GRAND-AM race weekend in 2011 if needed and some World Challenge events we will support. We can probably arrange to put it in someone's transporter to an event we won't be attending if needed. I would love to keep this car considering the work we've put into it. It just doesn't make sense to let it sit on our lift unused now that our initial development is done. Someone should enjoy it. No low ball offers please.
