Re: Vorshlag 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 - auto-x/track build

Terry, I've been following the brake rules, and it sounds like they're done messing with it for a bit. $800 seems cheap to me for a brake upgrade if it really sheds significant weight! Unfortunately...

Re: Aero TAKE-BACKS in ST.... re: Deleting 14.2.F

Brian - any insight into this, was it really just the Ford Motorsports parts that scared off the STAC?

Seems like the parts from all the other manufacturers (Mazdaspeed, etc) were pretty tame,...

Re: Vorshlag 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 - auto-x/track build

MaxQData is dead, long live MaxQData!

I recall seeing something recently that they're answering email and such again, though with no real explanation for dropping off the face of the earth.

Re: Vorshlag 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 - auto-x/track build

Worry not Terry, if you're *only* 1.1 seconds off on a tight course and slick surface in a car that weighs 500 lbs more, I'd say you're doing pretty good!

Speaking of which, how much did you lose...

Re: VTPP Tester Matt Murphy's STX E46 330i

Just a quick pre-season update, with the new car and new plans...

First, I bought a new car. I found a non-sunroof ZHP out in CA in immaculate shape for a good deal, I couldn't pass it up. So the...

Re: Feb 2011 SCCA FasTrack - Massive ST Category Changes!

Hah, truth! Man what I wouldn't give for a set of double wishbones, some nice big fenders, dropping a few hundred pounds, and keeping my straight six. =]

My car has brakes that are fine for...

Re: Vorshlag 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 - auto-x/track build

Whoa, 450/200??? That seems awfully low, even with fairly high motion ratios, have you measured them? I suppose with 400 whp, power-on rotation probably isn't hard to come by. =]

Re: Jan '11 Fast Track - Street Mod Cross Engine Swap

I'm also not sure I like the idea, SM has barely reached a point of competitive stability and we're going to force everyone to find new motors for their cars? Yikes.

The "killer SM car" is still...

Texas Tour?

Does anyone know the dates/location for the Texas National Tour this year?

I'm planning to make the drive down from MN, but I need to plan some other March plans around that.

Thanks!

Matt

Re: VTPP Tester Matt Murphy's STX E46 330i

This winter I have some big setup changes planned, and so I'm getting much more aggressively scientific with this build. I'm going to take the measurements for motion ratios, unsprung weight at each...

Re: E36 Track Pads

I can't say enough good things about the Performance Friction PFC06s I tried for my last HPDE day. Spend the money, they're the best.

Re: Vorshlag 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 - auto-x/track build

Do you have plans to take advantage of any of the STX Solid-axle suspension allowances? I'm not real familiar with how they work or what advantage they'd give, but I'd think if they help offset the...

Re: VTPP Tester Matt Murphy's STX E46 330i

Just a pre-Nats update, did a little tweaking. As I get more comfortable with the setup, I like the rear end a little looser.

I'm now at 13.5" front, 13.25" rear, but jacked the rear swaybar up to...

Nats TnT

Guys,

Sounds like the plan is to use the same TnT course as last year. If you think, as I do, that there was some room for improvement (as in a course that's remotely like a nationals-style...

Re: VTPP Tester Matt Murphy's STX E46 330i

Quick update as the season progresses...

Getting to a proper ride height is important. Especially with those struts up front, gotta keep them in their camber happy place!

I think the setup is...

Re: Texas National Tour - codrive?

ahh, it'd be great to be able to join you guys in STX, but it's looking like my car will stay in MN. There's still a bunch of tweaking I need to do to my car, so it's probably for the best.

I'll...

Re: Texas National Tour - codrive?

Hey, that'd be fantastic. Word is that the Lucky Lugnut Civic (Pat Washburn, Chris DeLay) will be there, and I'm guessing Hollis and a few others will be there as well, so when I lose badly, at least...

Texas National Tour - codrive?

Hey everyone, I'm not sure how to reach people in the DFW area, but I'm thinking about flying down for the Texas National Tour. Tickets are $160 right now, and that's a fully month before our season...

Re: VTPP Tester Matt Murphy's STX E46 330i

Yeah, I've been using the zip tie method, and got them out of the bumpstops under the conditions I was testing, but it'd be nice to see data that tells me when conditions have gotten grippy enough to...

Re: Vorshlag BMW E46: DSP Auto-x Project

Yeah I'm not sure you need to go 3.46 or 3.38, but I'd definitely like more than the 2.93 I have. Tough to say where that sweet spot is.

When I asked the road race folks about diffs they said...

Re: Finding the candidate for the Ultimate DSP BMW E36 or E46...

eh, no trouble finding non-sunroof 4-doors... ;)

Oh yeah, I'll be very interested to hear about the roof swap if you do it, the longer I keep my car the less likely I feel it is that someone else...
