    July 2006 FasTrack: link

New proposed minimum weight formulas for StreetMod, pages 33-34. BIG BIG changes. READ THIS if you care at all about SM/SM2. New formulas for turbos (even lower weights, boo!), rotaries (boo on all loud-@ss rotaries anyway), and new formulas for FWD/RWD/AWD - something more akin to XPrepared formulas. Haven't run the numbers yet, but at least these make more sense. There's also a "maximum minimum" weight of 3100 pounds (if that makes sense, heh). Some of their logic makes sens with regard to Forced Induction formulas - they are trying to remove the perceived dominance of small displacement turbo cars (they get too little weight before) so maybe this is a good thing. I wish this wasn't in PDF so we could copy it here... lemmie screen shot the pages.

Some XP clarificaitons (nothing big, it seems)

Street Touring clarification on page 32 (you can remove plastic engine covers, yay for RX8 owners, but big whoop)

Proposed: Moving all E36 cars from DSP to BSP on page 32. Combine non-M with M3. Move non-M E46 to same. More cannon fodder for the unlimited boost turbo buggies!!! BIG MISTAKE. Letter time... They are moving all of the current DSP cars to BSP (where they will be slaughtered). Who are they clearing out DSP for????? Teucci sold his car at the right time.

There's also the first open, fairly complete asset statement sheet (for 2004 and 2005) that I've ever seen from the SCCA. Of course SCCA Pro Racing is the Net Loss Leader for the club.

They just moved the EVO and STi into BSP this year... and gave them unlimited boost.... All of the old BSP cars (namely the E36 M3) were toast (or should be given a well prepped AWD boost buggy and driver). So, you'd think that the less powerful DSP E36 entries would also be even more toasted, right?

I do not get this one.

          A. Engine Classifications
          1. Four-stroke cycle and two-stroke cycle, naturally aspirated internal combustion engines will be classified on the basis of actual piston
          displacement.
          2. Turbocharged or supercharged versions of the above engine will be classified on a basis of adding 1.4 liters to the actual piston
          displacement.
          3. Rotary Engines (Wankel): These units will be classified on the basis of a piston displacement equivalent to 1.8 liters plus the volume
determined by the difference between the maximum and minimum capacity of the working chamber, times the number of rotors.
          B. SM Minimum Weight Calculations
All listed weights are without driver.
          FWD: 1550 lbs + 125 lbs/liter

          - Cars with engine located behind driver: +25 lbs/liter
          - Regardless of the weight formulas above, no car will be required to weigh more than 3100 lbs.
