But aftermarket ones have to be two point according to what I have heard. Stupid rule for those of us that have 3 point braces from the factory and upgraded to a lighter one.

3-point connects to the firewall/cowl. Adds extra stiffness.

Question: Could you use two 2-point bars? One from each tower to the cowl? The two connection points don't have to be the strut towers do they?

Interesting idea. My main gripe is losing my uber bling bling Ti 3 point bar if I want to run STU. Retarded!

Okay, so what do you BMW people know about strut braces?

-Turner Motorsport Carbon Fiber E46 strut brace $399.95

-Racing Dynamics front strut brace (aluminum) - $229.95

-UUC Strutbarbarian - $369 aluminum, $495 magnesium

-Dinan aluminum/carbon fiber strut brace - $449

I may have missed some. Thoughts? I'm obviously leaning toward the RD...

update I just noticed some might prevent adjusting of my Konis. d'oh! That would rule out the UUC anyway.

I don't know if it's any good, but this one on eBay appears to not cover the struts.

Seriously - it's a freagin stick of tubing between the strut towers. NO MOVING PARTS. We can make one. I've made them before - not hard.

Also, if you pay over $100 for a cold air I will KEEL you!

EDIT: just noticed the plethora of materials for strut braces you listed. CRIPES! CF? Aluminum? MAGNESIUM??? BMW tuners are fookin CLOWNS. Even using steel tubing you are talking *less than 3-4 pounds*. Using anything else is purly bling-aficial.

The trick is to make one that is not hinged.
