    M3 with Z06 wheels?

We've seen some mock-up pictures of this before (Matteucci) but Hanchey wanted to see for himself what it would take to put these lightweight 17x9.5" wheels on an E36 M3.

Using a variety of spacers, including a large bolt-on hub-centric unit, he test fit and bolted the Z06 wheel on front and back.

There are some differences, such as hub diameters (72mm for the Z06, 70mm for BMW) but the bolt circle is virtually identical. The spacer would have to be substantial - a bolt-on with 2 different hub diameters - but nothing impossible. After designing the spacer and having some built, it might be something Vorshlag could offer?

Alternatively the 4th gen factory 17" wheels would also fit (17x9), and are even cheaper and have a more favorable backspacing. We're gonna test fit some of those next - anyone have any factory F-body wheels? Jason? Or C4 Corvette factory wheels?

Thanks to Justin for coming by in his Z06 and donating a front wheel for an hour! And depositing 6 quarts of used oil?

EDIT: PLEASE DO NOT CROSS-POST OR LINK THESE PICTURES ELSEWHERE. We don't want the world to see these pictures just yet. Paul.

    I've got some 17x11 ZR1's I'll sell ya

I've read about BMW wheels fitting F-bodies, and vice versa. IIRC if you take it down to mm's, the bolt pattern is a wee bit off. But not enough to warrant any alarms, I don't think.

If anyone knows where to get two 17x9.5 ZO6 wheels, I'd be greatful. Condition doesn't matter as long as they roll. I don't know all the places to look for these puppies.

FYI, at Nationals I talked to Tom Bleh who was running in DSP in a white E36 sedan. He was running Enkei 16x9.5 wheels made for an early C4 Vette! He was running 265/45's with quite severely rolled, but barely flared, fenders. No spacers.

I'm not joining 3 more forums which is why I asked in the first place. I went to these and had to log in to view anything.

I love the new Enkei on a bunch of Evos I've seen lately. Might look into that.

EDIT: Scanned Enkei site and Tirerack. No 17x9.5's out there. The offset is favorable as you mentioned, but Enkei had exactly ONE 5x120.65mm wheel.

                  Re: M3 with Z06 wheels?

I have my WS6 wheels sitting in the garage that you are welcome to try out. I need to measure them to determine whether they are 9" or 9.5".

Of yea, did Justin get his car washed while there? Well, I expect at least the wheels were! =

As far as looking for ZO6 wheels, check ebay. While 99% of them are repos, there are probably hundreds of ads for them.

Repos are heavy which would negate the whole point of this. I found some beat up used ones are car-part.com under $200 each.

For the hundredth time, they are 9's... 9's, 9',s 9's! 17x9s only. If I'm wrong I'll buy you lunch!

He was lucky it was after 10 pm or I'd have cracked out the hose and soap. Woo-wee it was dirty! That boy... (shakes head). Oh, and the wheels... the wheels were filthy. The humanity!

No luck on OEMs and repros = heavy. He needs to check C4 and F-body backspace wheels first, too - he's so impatient, all ready to buy wheels when we don't yet know which will work better!

GAH! $200 for a beat up Z06 wheel? Just Say No. (TM) Patience....

Let's try to test fit borrowed WS6 wheels from "$850" McCall and see if those fit... if they do, we could then go look for some "less rare" 17x9 Camaro SS wheels that can cost $300-400 for a good set. Hell, I've bought zero mile take-off/brand new SS wheels from SLP for $300/set...

Well, yea, I checked too - but that $300 price means a lot of individuals might still sell them for around $300...

These were $600 shipped from CorvetteForum.com... 17x9.5 front, 17x11 rears

Those were my most favorite style of C5 rims that I've always wanted - alas, I then sold the Vette... 8-O These were OEM and were pretty dang light...

Y'all missed out on some 18x11 and 18x12 super super lightweight BBS Vette rims
