  • TAMSCC - Iraqi chapter???

The A&M football coach updates his website with the current state of affairs every Fri. The following is an exerpt from this week's update. He tells the story of an Aggie US soldier in Iraq that claims to be head of the TAMSCC in Iraq! Huh??? Anyone know this guy?

Interesting experience this morning. An email came into the web site at 2:42 a.m. our time from a young man in Iraq, Cpl. Gavin Whitehead. Our editor responded to his email early this morning, and when the coaches were in our last offensive and defensive staff sessions, going over last-day adjustments to our game plans, a phone call came in from Cpl. Whitehead.

He said it was 7 o'clock and right after dinner time over there, 90 degrees with the sun going down, and he hadn't been able to reply to our email back to him. He is from Kingsville, and he attended Texas A&M. He explained that he is head of the A&M sports club out where they are stationed in Fallujah with a U.S. Marine Corps unit, and there are 13 members. A couple are headed home soon.

They wanted us to know they were supporting the Aggies from Iraq and thought it would be a morale booster for them to hear from us. He wrote, "We're all from Texas, and very proud of our great state and everything that represents it, especially the Texas A&M Aggies and the legacy that y'all lead."

Well, Gavin, from our entire staff, we are very proud of you and your comrades, too, and appreciate all that you are doing for our great nation. We know you are representing the great state of Texas and the Aggies very well, and we'll be happy for you when we have freedom secured over there and you all are back home with your families. Thanks for taking time to contact us. We're sending you a goodie bag of Aggie stuff.

    TAMSCC - Iraqi chapter???

It says Sports club, not Sports CAR club. Subtle, yet distinct difference and makes more sense considering it was a football update.
